Built in 1913 by architect Irving Gill as a residence for the Kaust family, the Inn is a registered Historical Site and one of the finest examples of Gill's "Cubist" style architecture. Irving Gill was a student of Louis Sullivan and one of the first to use tilt-slab construction. The lovely, tranquil gardens of the Inn were originally planned by renowned horticulturist, Kate Sessions, who was responsible for landscaping Balboa Park. The family of the famous composer-conductor John Philip Sousa resided in the home for 8 years during the 1920's.

The Bed and Breakfast Inn at La Jolla is also well situated for "one stop shopping" when it comes to weddings. Intimately tucked in between the La Jolla Presbyterian Church and the La Jolla Woman's Club we provide convenient accommodations for both the wedding party and the honeymoon couple.

The inn is central to the main attractions and activities of San Diego, such as the Stephen Birch Aquarium, Sea World, Wild Animal Park, Torry Pines Golf Course, Wild Animal Park ,Temecula Wine Country and Mexico. In addition, UCSD, Scripps Hospital, and Salk Institute are conveniently close. For visiting family, friends, or out of town business associates, we are the perfect "Extra Guest room."After a fun-filled day, return to the peaceful respite of the inn, where, lulled by the melodious sounds of the garden fountain and surrounded by its lush greenery, you can enjoy a banquet of wine, cheese, and appetizers, while sharing adventures with other world travelers or relaxing quietly in silent reflection and meditation.

Our breakfast is served from 8:00am to 10:00am in our Dining Room, and in the summer months also served in Garden area. The Breakfast is included in the rate. |
