From the moment you walk through the door, Mont Rest transports you back to a lost era of grace and beauty. This historic Inn is Iowa's most luxurious bed and breakfast.

Built in 1893, the Inn is nestled halfway up a 9 acre wooded bluff overlooking one of the most panoramic views of the mighty Mississippi River. Sit in a rocker on the front porch and watch eagles catching fish from the Mississippi.

We're the perfect setting for a honeymoon, anniversary, or just a getaway weekend, and are located near two of the largest gambling boats on the Mississippi. Nine luxurious guest rooms with private bath, many with fireplaces and Jacuzzis.

Our concierge service includes making arrangements for tee times at the Bellevue Country Club, arranging canoe trips on the Maquoketa River, dinner reservations in area restaurants, tickets to local sporting and theater events in the surrounding areas and other information on tourist related activities.

Galena is under an hour away and Mont Rest offers a luxurious alternative and a pleasant change to the typical Galena bed and breakfast experience.

All of our luxury rooms feature working fireplaces (seasonal), Jacuzzi whirlpool bathtubs, cable TV, VCR/DVD, heated towel bars, Egyptian cotton towels, guest robes, hair dryers, and handmade chocolates.

Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages are available in our main floor kitchen, and we offer such services as in-room therapeutic massage and reflexology.

Policies
  • Mont Rest Cancellation Policy (Strictly Enforced): You may cancel up to 30 days ahead of your scheduled arrival with no penalty. We will reschedule you for another date as you desire and as long as there is available space that day. If an emergency should arise and you have to cancel inside the 30 day cancellation period, please call us and we will try to resell your reservation. If we resell your reservation, you will be allowed to reschedule on a space available basis. If we are unable to resell your reservation, you will be held responsible for your reservation. You are welcome to reserve up to one year in advance. Please note the expiration date on your certificate. With limited space and the great demand for our rooms, we regret we cannot honor expired certificates. Due to the nature of our Corporate Retreat and Event (parties of 5 or more rooms) Packages, we are unable to refund any portion of deposits made for reservations. Please call for further clarification or details of our policy.
  • Due to demand there is a 2 night stay required on Holiday Weekends and in the month of October.
  • The Mont Rest Inn is a world famous Murder Mystery Hotel and a popular romantic weekend getaway in Iowa offering a luxurious midwest weekend getaway to a Galena bed and breakfast.
  • Sorry, but there is no smoking allowed in any rooms at Mont Rest. Smoking is only allowed outside the Inn at designated smoking areas.

Today Mont Rest is back in all its Victorian splendor. Everything that a fire had destroyed has been replaced with vintage woodwork and chandeliers and furniture that Christine literally searched the world to find. One of her biggest joys is sharing this Victorian wonder with her guests.
