Authentic Berkshire cottage built in 1780 and is said to have one of the only original Rumford fireplaces in New England.

The Inn is an authentic 230 year old Berkshire cottage Farmhouse located close to Tom Ball Mountain. The building was called "Berkshire Cottage" for many years and a sign sporting this name hung outside for over 70 years until the previous owners renamed the property "Christine's Inn". The Inn's main building was constructed between 1780 and 1840 and guests enjoy the country cottage ambience of the guest lounge, complete with a wood burning stove, and the country cottage dining room which is a great place for breakfast watching the many beautiful birds that grace the extensive gardens

Much of its original character is intact such as: the wide pine floors, open  beam ceilings and the Rumford fireplace in the main house. The Rumford Room, which is the oldest room in the house, is open for Holiday Specials with dinner packages. 

The carriage house building, accommodating the guest rooms, is relatively new and dates back to 1985. The Berkshire Room has a fireplace for a particularly cosy and romantic feel as well as its own private deck for those warm summer evenings. All rooms are air conditioned and have mountain and garden views. The Inn has magnificent lawns, perennial cottage gardens, 200 year old trees and views overlooking Tom Ball Mountain. The gardens have a gazebo located on the south side where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful country ambience.

All rooms have wireless-internet, flat screen TVs and DVD players as well as air conditioning.

Location is the key word. Situated in the heart of the Berkshire mountains, we truly have the best of both worlds when it comes to location and cultural activities for our guests.

Winter is a magical time filled with snow, log fires, Christmas fayres and mulled wine.  Stay at An English Hideaway Inn and ski at three of our local and excellent ski resorts, Butternut, Catamount and Jiminy Peak. Enjoy nearby Great Barrington and Stockbridge as they come alive over the holiday season.

The gardens are a rare treat. You can enjoy a scrumptious English Breakfast watching Red Cardinals, Blue Jays or a Woodpecker or two enjoying theirs!

Summer is festival time! There are local celebrations in Great Barrington and Stockbridge, special exhibitions at the nearby Norman Rockwell Museum but above all An English Hideaway Inn is close to Tanglewood. Enjoy an evening of wonderful music at Tanglewood complete with a hamper to relax under the balmy summer stars.

This is a month of some of the most vibrant colors that you can imagine. Rates and Policiees
  • A charge of $25 per night will be added for an additional guest & bed
  • Included in the room rate is a scrumptious breakfast served between 8 - 9:30
  • All rooms have wireless-internet, flat screen TVs and DVD players as well as air conditioning.
  • The English Hideaway is a smoke-free historic Inn. A cleaning fee of $150 will be levied for non compliance.
  • We do not accept any pets.
  • Between June 21 and August 31, as well as for all national holidays, a minimum stay of 2 nights is required. During this time, we reserve the right to add a surcharge for one night stays.
  • We accept Visa, Master Card and Discover. Although we accept credit cards, we would prefer personal checks and cash. If paid by personal check or cash, there is a 2% Discount given. During Tanglewood season as well as for all reservations of three or more nights, we require a 50% deposit to guarantee your reservation. This deposit will be credited to your account when your reserved stay is completed. For all other reservations, we require a one-night deposit.
  • Departure before final date of reservation will be charged as originally confirmed.
  • If a reservation is canceled at least 15 day's (30 day's during July and August) prior to the arrival date, your deposit will be refunded less a 20% cancellation fee per room
  • If a reservation is canceled less than 15 days (30 days in July and august) prior to the arrival date, you will forfeit your full deposit unless we are able to rebook the room, in which your deposit will be refunded less a 20% cancellation fee per room.
  • Cancellation the same day of confirmed arrival and departure before final date of reservation the full balance will be charged as originally confirmed
  • Check-in begins at 3 pm- if you plan on arriving after 6 PM, please notify us in advance. Check out is by 11 AM.
