The Bishop's House is a landmark of Talbot County, conveniently located within 10 miles of Historic Oxford and St. Michaels. Built in 1880 as the home of former Maryland Governor Philip Frances Thomas and his wife, Clintonia Wright May Thomas, the Victorian house was sold to the Episcopal Diocese and served as the Bishop's home until 1955. |

To the left of the main entrance is the magnificent drawing room with plaster molding & ceiling medallion and a Victorian tiled fireplace. This room is an excellent place to read a book, listen to music, or spend a few hours with your traveling companions discussing the day's activities |

We offer guest services that not even the most expensive hotels can match. Because we're a small establishment, we usually don't have more than 8 guests at a time, so we have more time to attend to your individual needs. We are happy to share our local knowledge with you so you can plan day trips. We know the area well and take care to match our guests with what will be a pleasant and memorable dining experience.
Beyond the comfort and spaciousness of the living areas, guests of the Bishop’s House, a Maryland bed and breakfast, may choose from five spacious guest rooms with distinct personalities. Beautiful, comfortable rooms - each room has been individually decorated.
The Bishop's House offers the personal attention to detail and amenities found only in the very finest accommodations.
All five guest room accommodations have private baths with multi-jet shower panels, Ceiling Fans, Cable TV, DVD, Clock Radio, CD Player, Clock Radio and charging station for iPod, phone jack for modem hook-up, Mini Fridge, complimentary high speed wireless throughout the house (including the wrap-around porch and courtyard), Doeskin Guest Robes, luxurious 600-1000 thread count bed linens, down comforters (in season), steam iron and ironing board, hair dryer, lighted make-up mirror, and individually controlled heat and air conditioning.
Four guest room baths also have whirlpool tubs, two have walk-in showers as well as tubs, and three guest rooms have king size beds & working fireplaces.

Reservations are required for both weekdays, as well as, your weekend getaway in Maryland. A two-night minimum stay, per room, is required year round for all guest rooms with a three-night minimum stay required for the Labor Day, Columbus Day, and Waterfowl Festival Weekends.
We will accommodate guests on an overnight basis, but payment for a two-night stay (three-night stay for holiday & special event weekends) is required.
Guest room rates are $185.00 to $195.00 per night, plus taxes, for single and double occupancy, and include our full hot sumptuous breakfasts which are served daily at 9 AM.

Michaels and only 20 miles from Tilghman Island or the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge
in Dorchester County.
Step outside and you're two minutes away from boutiques, specialty shops, antique shops
and casual and gourmet restaurants of Easton's Town Center. You're within 2 miles of the
Tred Avon River, tennis, swimming, boating, fishing, sailing, and canoeing. A wildlife
center is within 7 miles, and hiking, horseback riding, and a beach are within 10 miles.
