A new addition to Rock Hall, there’s
a magic here that harks back to an era when passenger and freight boats plied the Bay, and
where visitors enjoyed their vacations in the many summer homes located on this tree lined
street. |
Whether you are arriving by sail or powerboat, visiting
someone with a boat, or just looking for somewhere to unwind and relax, the Old
Gratitude House is your home away from home.
Originally built in a Victorian style about 1890 in a
village called Gratitude, this private home was expanded in 1999 and
modernized in 2005, to create one of the finest bed & breakfasts in the area. Four
beautifully decorated guest rooms with private baths, cable/DVD TVs and high speed
wireless Internet access await you. The Old Gratitude House
takes full advantage of the soothing water's edge, while also offering access to a variety
of activities that will keep you busy.

A rate of $195 per night plus 10%
taxes will be charged for each of our rooms. This rate is for two people and includes a
full gourmet breakfast. |

The house is fully air conditioned, and all rooms have
private baths, and TVs with DVD players. Wi-Fi (high-speed wireless)
Internet access is available throughout the house and grounds. Guests can relax
on the large deck and Adirondack chairs facing the Bay, or enjoy a
rocking chair or love seat on the Victorian house front porch.

- Kayaks: Gratitude House guests enjoy free use of Heritage kayaks to
explore nearby Tavern and Swan Creeks. The Haven with its natural unspoiled marshes and
waters is host to herons, swans, ducks and many other species of wildlife. Shallow depths
and easy to maneuver kayaks make for a pleasurable worry free experience. Leisurely
explore the local water ways at your own pace. There are no time limits here.
- Bird Watching & Wildlife: Visit the Eastern Neck National Wildlife
Refuge. This unspoiled island, is located only 15 minutes from Gratitude or visit The Kent
County Bird Club of the Maryland Ornithological Society which promotes recreational
and social events, education programs and an information exchange

- Biking: Guests can use Gratitude House bikes to explore the Rock Hall
area, or take advantage of one of Kent County’s many bike tour routes. Kent
County’s relatively flat and safe roads make it a biker’s paradise. Stop at one
of the many local restaurants for a refreshing pick me up or Durding’s old fashioned
drug store for a hand-dipped ice cream treat. We also have a 21 speed tandem bike
available for more adventures.
- Music, Shopping & Dining: Rock Hall has it all! Enjoy great musical
performances, shopping and dining while staying while
staying at Old Gratitude House. Not sure what to do? We'll be happy to offer you
suggestions.
- Boating: Fishing charters, and sail and powerboat cruises on the
Chesapeake Bay and surrounding rivers can be arranged with sufficient advance notice, as
well as longer bareboat charters.

Enjoy
dinner at one of the many great restaurants in the area, and return at the end of the day
to relax outside on the Gratitude House's deck or lawn to enjoy a breathtaking
sunset to the sound of the 1812 Overture. |
And maybe the best
activity is no activity at all. Relax, refresh and renew your sprit with the hypnotic
sunset and incredibly colorful evening sky. That’s why we call it Gratitude.
Policies |
- Cancellation Policy
Guests cancelling any portion of their reservation less than 10 days before their expected
arrival date will be charge for one night’s lost revenue, unless we are able to
rebook the room. All cancellations will be charged a $30 cancellation fee.
- Guest Policies
* The Old Gratitude House is a non-smoking establishment.
* We regret that we can not accommodate children under 12 or pets.
* We will seek to accommodate personal dietary needs or other restrictions if stated in
advance.
* Reservations are required, with rooms guaranteed by a major credit card.
* Deposits are required for extended stays and multiple room reservations.
* Two night minimum required for weekends, longer for certain special events.
* Check-in time is 3:00 PM or as arranged in advance, and check-out time is 11 AM
* Guest charges are payable in full upon check-in.
* All rates are for double occupancy and are subject to state and local taxes.
* VISA, Mastercard, Discover and American Express are accepted.
