The Captain Lord Mansion is an intimate and stylish inn situated at the head of a sloping village green, overlooking the Kennebunk River.

The Inn is located in a residential area filled with 17th and 18th century Colonial and Federal period homes that have been meticulously preserved.

The Captain Lord Mansion has a handsome large carriage house on its property that used to be a sail loft and artist studio at various times in its past.

"Celebrating 25 Years"

Viewed across the long manicured lawn the historic Captain Lord Mansion sits peacefully shaded by large Maple trees. As perennial gardens lead you to the entrance the door seems to swing open and welcome you home for the night. Once inside the lobby the warmth of hardwood floors, period furniture and beautiful decorations will dazzle you.

From main lobby you will see the formal gathering/dining room incorporating a large "Centennial Chippendale" dining room table and chairs originally belonging to the Lord family and centering on a large open fireplace. Cozy to the original 1812 cooking fireplace a pair of high-back wing chairs and a camelback sofa complete with down cushions resides by the fire welcoming guests to settle in for conversation or just relaxing. A toasty fire is kept tended daily for 10 months of the year.

Each guestroom’s unique appointments have been carefully chosen to make each one an adventure for all your senses to explore and savor. All followed up by scrumptious breakfasts, new friends, relaxing times and surrounded by historic Kennebunkport. Nurtured by your hosts Rick and Bev and their staff, The Captain Lord Mansion’s warmth and happiness emerges from every room where charm and beauty is a way of life and time has no meaning.

Family-style full three-course breakfasts are serve in an atmospheric country kitchen.

There is no room service or breakfast in bed served because it is the philosophy of the innkeepers that the communal family-style breakfast a major part of the Captain Lord mansion experience.

There is afternoon tea and sweets served daily in the atmospheric country kitchen. In summer, the inn serves iced-tea from a large ceramic crock. In winter, a "Swedish Glogg" (a non-alcoholic mulled cider and cranberry juice) is kept simmering in a crock pot on the big antique stove in the kitchen. Each day the cook prepares a different kind of homemade snack to be enjoyed by the guests.
