Perched on a garden-framed hillside overlooking picturesque Linekin Bay, The Five Gables is one of coastal Maine's most exciting restoration projects, bringing back to life East Boothbay's only remaining summer hotel in East Boothbay, Maine..
The Five Gables began life more than one hundred years ago as the Forest House. The inn still has a broad verandah with a hammock and plenty of comfy chairs overlooking a quiet cove where lobster boats tug at their moorings. Just kick back and relax, or take a lingering walk down the lane to the East Boothbay General Store.

All rooms have priviate baths, antique and period reproduction furnishings, including King, Queen and four-poster beds. Some have fireplaces. 15 of the 16 guest rooms afford spectacular views of Linekin Bay, its islands and the sea beyond.
Lodging includes a sumptuous, multi-course breakfast prepared by Culinary Institute-trained innkeeper, Mike Kennedy, plus afternoon refreshments with homemade treats.
Each afternoon savor a delicious and restorative beverage, such as tea or lemonade, along with homemade pastries and cookies, compliments of your hosts. And at the end of your day's pursuits, relax on our spacious wraparound porch and take in the vista of the sparkling bay, the distant islands, and the cry of gulls as they soar through the crisp salt air.
Guests of the inn choose from a variety of activities, including whalewatching excursions, trips to Monhegan Island, windjammer sailing and scenic boat cruises, walks to lighthouses along rocky shores, visiting local villages (bustling Boothbay Harbor is just 3 1/2 miles away, while Bath, Wicasset, and New Harbor are all nearby) - and eating plenty of lobster! Sports enthusiasts enjoy swimming, jogging, biking, kayaking, and golf.

Mike and De Kennedy are natural, outgoing hosts who know how to make their guests feel welcome ,while never imposing on them. Having travelled extensively, and working in several careers, they have an appreciation of new and exciting experiences; this makes them particularly well suited to helping their guests explore the Boothbay area.
