|
Pentagoet Inn Bed and Breakfast,
located in one of the most unspoiled
and historic coastal villages of the Maine coast, is just up the hill from the
picturesque harbor of Castine.
The main building is a Victorian structure built in 1894. Guestrooms are also housed in an adjacent Colonial style building, which is over 200 years old. The wrap-around porch and common rooms offer guests an opportunity for socializing or solitude.
This whimsical Queen Anne Victorian with its three-story turret, quirky gables and adjoining 18th century cottage offers fabulous weekend getaways in Maine. It has 16 bedrooms, all with private baths. There is a hint of a tilt to the floors and doors and with all the delightful nooks and crannies, each room is unique.
You will feel comfortably at home with the inns charming mix of antiques and collectibles. The rooms are furnished with attention to detail, antiques, vintage lithographs, luxury linens, down pillows and old-fashioned floral coverlets. Most rooms have king-size beds, several have claw foot tubs and fireplaces and one has a flower-bedecked balcony.
The sixteen guestrooms are imaginatively and comfortably decorated, and the landscaped gardens invite visitors to enjoy a quiet hour strolling, or relaxing on benches or in the hammock. |

~Castine, the Down East Region of Maine~
Many of our guests make the Pentagoet Inn in Castine their base from which to explore Penobscot Bay, the Blue Hill peninsula, Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, the Down East Region of Maine. There are a dozen towns within easy reach of Castine, each one special with it's own unique character, antique shops, art galleries, flea markets and country fairs. Castine is centrally located for day trips as it resides in a triangle between Camden to the South, Stonington and Deer Isle to the East and Acadia in Bar Harbor to the North, each an hour away. The Pentagoet Inn in Castine offers a quiet respite from the more touristy track, the bustle of Camden and Acadia in Bar Harbor.
