The Inn at St. John is a most unique 100 year old Inn noted for its European charm and quiet gentility, centrally located in Portland Maine just a short drive to the Old Port, Waterfront, and Arts District.

Originally known as the Hotel Victoria, the inn was built by railroad tycoon John Deering in 1897 to accommodate arriving passengers at Portland's Union Station located a block away. As Portland's longest continuously operating Inn, we have offered over 100 years of outstanding service to our guests.

The Inn at St. John is located within walking distance of Portland's Old Port and Arts District. Portland's Old Port is a tiny village within the city. It is a six block area filled with dozens of intriguing shops, studios, galleries, and restaurants you won't want to miss.

Visit the many diverse lighthouses in the area including the famous Portland Head Light in Fort Williams Park. Tour charming coastal towns and villages. Delight in walks along the rocky coast or bathe in the sunlight of our many sandy beaches.

Stop by Portland's Museum of Art where you can browse through their prized collection of Winslow Homer paintings, or visit the extensive children's museum. Spend an evening with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, now in its 79th season.

Visit the stunning Victoria Mansion, an Italianate-style Victorian brownstone built by Maine native Ruggles Morse in 1857. Portland Harbor plays host to a wide array of seafaring adventures, from island tours to whale-watching and seal-watching tours.
