Twin Gables Inn
|
| The Twin Gables Inn, a State Registered Historic building, is a pleasant, romantic Inn, perfect for that Getaway Weekend, a rendezvous with friends, or taking advantage of the Saugatuck area's natural beauty. Ideally located, the Inn is only a short walk to the village center, while still being in a country-like setting with plenty of private parking. Throughout your stay at the Inn, your hosts, Bob & Sue, are prepared to offer you the foremost in service, while you relax in the casually elegant, comfortable, natural surroundings. |
There are 14 quaint Guest Rooms in the Inn, several with fireplaces, and all with private baths, furnished with antiques and reproductions. In addition there are 3 comfortable Cottages on our rolling 2 acres. The Inn has a vineyard/winery theme, with all the rooms named after varieties of wines, grapes and wine regions.
| Individual, personalized service is the way at the Inn -
whether it's the sumptuous, gourmet breakfast served to you every morning, the fresh,
homemade treats placed out in the evening, the antiques in the room, or the special
touches around the Inn. The spacious Breakfast and Common Rooms have original Maple floors and a large wood-burning fireplace; a unique feature is the 3,500 square feet of embossed tin ceilings and walls. |
|
Guests are invited to sit and relax on the front porch (above) and enjoy our unobstructed view of the sunset over Lake Kalamazoo, read a book from the Inn's library, sip a beverage, add the next piece to the ongoing jigsaw puzzle, or watch some cable TV or a movie from the Inn's video library. After a summer bike ride, or some winter cross-country skiing, unwind in the large indoor whirlpool tub. In the summer, take a walk on the grounds and enjoy the terraced gardens, pond, and the birds; or take a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool and enjoy the sun or the shade on the 1,000 sq. ft. brick patio. |
Built in 1865, Twin Gables Inn has a rich history, having undergone numerous changes, but always being a part of the progression of the Saugatuck community. It started as a brewery icehouse, became a tannery, a barrelstave mill, a boat building yard, a planning mill, and since the turn-of-the-century, a hotel and restaurant. It is the only building which was once a mill, still left standing from the busy lumbering era in the Saugatuck area.
The Twin Gables Inn is a member of the Saugatuck CVB (Convention & Visitors Bureau), the West Michigan Tourist Association (WMTA), and the Saugatuck Area Business Association (SABA).
We are inspected and approved by the Lake-To-Lake B&B Association and the MOBIL Travel Guide. We are written up in Romantic Michigan, Annual Directory of Midwest B&B's, Recommended Inns of the Midwest, and Frommer's Great Lakes & Midwest.
Twin Gables Inn and The Grand Escape Inns of Saugatuck offer several weekend events including Murder Mysteries, Christmas Progressive (from inn to inn) Dinners, Wine Tours, and more.
