Built in 1906, our century old Queen Anne Victorian welcomes guests with spacious common areas, original quarter sawn oak woodwork & intricately patterned hardwood floors.

Architecturally designed, the Castle houses 3 Whirlpool/Fireplace Suites: English Rose, Bittersweet, Heron and 2 Classic Rooms, Peacock & Rose Gazebo.

The Castle Keep

The Castle

Purchased by the Boven's in November 2004, this extraordinary 8700 square foot contemporary building is in a natural setting overlooking our own 5-acre water lily pond. Our favorite part about the property is its bird's eye view to the ever-changing scenery of the surrounding countryside.

Usually found baking or cooking in the commercial kitchen, located at the back of the Castle Keep, Herb also tends the landscaping & general business operations. Ruth can normally be found greeting guests & providing complete conceirge service. She also provides tours for prospective wedding couples & wedding coordination for scheduled events.

Purchased by the Bovens in November 1990, this extraordinary 7000 square foot Queen Anne Victorian building is a prominent landmark & surrounded by lawn & gardens. Our favorite part about the property is its wrap around porch & the distinctive 8-sided turret.

Our family living quarters are located at the Castle as well, which we share with our two dogs, Crusade a black flat coat retriever, and, Aiko, our sweet, but mischievous miniature poodle. We also have two outdoor cats, Kitton & Miss Smudgey, who keep our property free from roaming varmints & sometimes act as tour guide to guests while on site.

Breakfast at the Inn

All of the food prepared at our Michigan bed and breakfast inn is prepared by our own Innkeeper/Chef, Herb Boven. Here in our beautiful spot in Allegan, MI we've elevated breakfast to celebration status! Our Add-on Picnic Basket package includes a loaf of homemade bread fresh from the oven, and our Dinner Option Packages are creative and satisfying. Using only the best local ingredients and fresh herbs, we promise to deliver a memorable food experience at Castle in the Country.

Menu for each morning is based on seasonal availability. Please let us know in advance of your visit if you have a special dietary restriction. We will do our best to accommodate special needs whenever possible. Breakfast is included in your room/suite cost) served at your own individual table from 8:30-10:00 am daily

Stay in, relax, unwind, and enjoy your luxurious room with this convenient dinner option. Add this in-room dinner and we will pack a delightful, flavorful and completely made from scratch dinner in a basket that makes the trip from our kitchen to your room stress free. Get every moment of together time you're looking for. (We recommend ordering at least 24 hours in advance to ensure availability. Menu options can be selected when you check in and are subject to change based on seasonal availability.)  We also have Event Dinner Menus (for pre-arranged or scheduled group packages)

For those with a less adventurous spirit take a jaunt on the paddleboat or relax in our screened porch and watch the wildlife. Schedule a side by side couple's massage in our on-site spa, The Royal Retreat, or watch a newly released DVD in your luxurious suite with whirlpool tub for two and fireplace. For those of you who need to be "fully connected" while you re-connect with each other, we offer FREE WI-FI from all common areas and most rooms/suites. Weddings

Let the Story of your "Happily Ever After" Michigan Wedding unfold at Castle in the Country Bed & Breakfast Inn. Fairy tales do come true, and we would love to help you plan every detail in this chapter of your own love story. When you choose our enchanting country bed and breakfast inn, we provide all the details necessary for hosting either your choice of an Intimate Wedding Packages for 2-50, or a wonderful Destination weekend wedding & reception for 25-100+.

Policies
  • We offer an intimate setting, uniquely different rooms, and as a result often fill to capacity. Because of this, our policies are different than most hotels and large resorts.
  • Check-in & Check-out:
    We are staffed to check in between 4-6 p.m. Check-out: 11 a.m. Early check in or late check out may be possible for an additional fee if our housekeeping schedule permits and must be arranged with the innkeeper on the day of arrival.
  • Pets
    Pets are not allowed exept when pre-arranged in Camelot's Chambers only. Dogs may not be left unattended at any time.
  • No smoking (An ashtray is provided outdoors on the covered porch)
  • Deposit Required for Reservations:
    A deposit of 50% of the total reservation cost (or the full amount for single night reservations) is required for all reservations. In exchange, we remove your unique room from our availability calendar and stop marketing it for your reserved dates.
  • Cancellations:
    Cancellation must be received 7 days prior to arrival date and will result in a $25 cancellation fee to cover our processing costs. If a cancellation is received within 7 days and we are unable to re-book, the total deposit amount will be retained. There is a $25 fee for changing reservation dates if done up to 7 days prior to arrival date. Changing dates within 7 days falls within our cancellation policy. There are no refunds for early departure. Group/event reservations may require larger deposits and 30 days notice for refund of the deposit. Concerned about canceling? We offer cancellation insurance to cover most reasonable causes for cancelling at a nominal rate.
  • Minimum Stay
    Two or three night minimum may apply for most weekend or holiday dates. When the 2 night minimum has been fulfilled, it may make a Friday or a Sunday available for single night stays. Please visit our online availability and booking page, or call for special arrangements. 1-888-673-8054.
  • Children
    Children are welcome to enjoy a family friendly getaway with their parents when arranged in advance in Camelot's Chambers or the English Rose Suite . In-room accommodations may be made based on room size and overall house occupancy. An additional fee of $20 will be charged for each person beyond the double occupancy.
