This delightful farmhouse, built in 1908, has recently been refurbished and features a romantic hot tub overlooking Stouts Creek, a wedding gazebo and a patio with firepit for those cool evenings.
Enter the front door of this post-Victorian farm house ands see to the right the staircase leading upstairs; straight ahead is the parlor, dining room and kitchen. The ceilings on the first floor are antique patterned tin sheets which have been restored and painted peony white. The original oak and pine floors have recently been refurbished.
The parlor invites you to sit and unwind. Comfortable chairs and reading lamps are placed so that you can enjoy the antique mantle (circa 1904) which has been added to the room. Bookshelves flank the sides. In the bay window sets a table which has an ongoing puzzle. Perhaps you will sit there for the evening or just fill in a piece or two on your way to breakfast.

Most of the furniture in the house is custom handmade Amish oak furniture. Bedrooms have cable TV with movie
channels as well as high speed Internet & zoned heating & cooling for your
comfort. |

Breakfast & Snacks:
A hot breakfast will be served in the dining room or the breakfast room at 9 AM Monday -
Saturday.
Breakfast also served outside weather permiting
The upstairs refrigerator is stocked with soda & bottled water.
Homemade cookies will be provided for your afternoon snack.
Special dietary needs can be met with adequate notice, as well as alternate breakfast
times.
The Plain & Fancy House
Surrounding Grounds
Come relax and renew. The surrounding grounds of Plain & Fancy Bed & Breakfast are filled with treasures waiting to be discovered. The spacious front yard has Adirondack chairs; lean back, close your eyes -- relax. Watch the birds play in the bird bath or enjoy the many Hosta varieties planted in the front yard
Follow the path to the side yard; linger at the wedding gazebo, enjoy the sun garden plantings as well as the other flowers and shrubs. Proceed further, to one of two patios. This one has a glider where you can sit and hold hands, overlooking t he creek. Or on a chilly night, be mesmerized by the flames in the fire.
A hot tub awaits you. During the day you can view the wildlife at the
creek and by night you can gaze at the stars.
Follow the path to the creek. Walk along the edge and listen to it bubble or take off your
shoes and enjoy the refreshing waters. Romance . . . Relax . . . Renew
Weddings
Wedding packages are available for small, intimate Weddings. Outdoor facilities include a
14 foot gazebo and patios overlooking Stouts Creek. Limited seating also available. Call
to customize your Special Day.
Enjoy the many area attractions, such as Ft. Davidson, Elephant Rocks, Taum Sauk Mountain, Johnson's Shut-Ins, Black River float trips, the Ozark Trail, Mark Twain National Forest, St. Francois River, and much much more. |
