Looking for a beautiful retreat, rich with Santa Fe's history? Visit The Madeleine, Santa Fe's first and most elegant bed and breakfast, where the past is authentically preserved. Tucked away on a quiet street on Santa Fe's famous east side, this unique1886 estate is only three blocks from the Plaza and the galleries of Canyon Road. |
With its stately three-stories, The Madeleine stands as one of the few architectural reminders of the frontier days, a boisterous time when Santa Fe bustled with the energy of the Wild West. Billy the Kid threatened to ride into town, boasting that he would shoot Gov. Lew Wallace, the author of Ben Hur. Miners from Cerrillos and elsewhere bragged about their gold and silver claims. Ranchers and cowboys came to the Plaza to buy supplies and catch up on the news. Indian artists sold their wares. Kit Carson visited from Taos.
In the Old West, weary travelers looked forward to the inn at the end of their journey, a relaxing oasis where they'd find a good bed and congenial company. At The Madeleine, Santa Fe's tradition of Southwestern hospitality continues.
In the elegant main house, up the hand-made staircase, you'll find six inviting and well-appointed bedrooms. Each with it's own appeal.
Each room has comfortable beds with natural fiber bedding, cable TV, private telephones, and, of course, our homemade breakfasts. Most have private baths. Some feature stained glass accents, garden views, a brass-and-iron framed bed, a separate sitting room and your own fireplace. Rates: $70 - $195 |
