Sail Inn
|
|
At the Sail Inn, a bed
and breakfast guest house, we strive to provide an intimate
personal setting for our overnight guests in a quaint, historic home.
We are located across from the Tryon Palace and craft shop, two houses from the Gardens and Palace Visitor's Center, next door to the Chadwick Café, and half a block away from Trolley tours.
When you come into the house, the bright colors greet you. The red walls surrounded by white bead-board wainscotting are enhanced by the bright floral hand-hooked rugs. An old trunk with original owners address sits in the entry under the coat rack. A family heirloom handmade antique chest sits under a mirror across from the trunk. In the hallway, two servers provide a place for a pot of fresh coffee which is always ready and provide the location for the continental breakfast in the mornings. A small refrigerator/freezer in the hall keeps sodas and ice always at hand. The art pieces on the wall are by local artists.

About Our Town
New Bern, North Carolina, is a picturesque and progressive historic community uniquely situated at the confluence of the Neuse and Trent Rivers. New Bern is North Carolinas premiere historic city where its citizens enjoy a great quality of life and visitors can take a step back in time to explore and experience a culture rich in history and tradition.
Founded in 1710 by Baron Christopher de Graffenried of Bern, Switzerland, New
Bern is the second oldest town in North Carolina and the first
state capital. In a city rich in history, Tryon Palace Historic Sites and Gardens
offers a taste of life in Colonial America. You might enjoy the
architectural beauty and charm of our four National Register Historic Districts,
stroll through our historic revitalized downtown, or rediscover our states history
through technology and innovation at the NC History Education Center
scheduled to open 2010.
New Bern is an up and coming venue for the arts and artists. Our downtown
has many galleries and art studios, live music, active local theatres, festivals, and
special events year round. We are very excited about a new emphasis on public art with a
juried sculpture contest sponsored by the Craven County Arts Council and Gallery
that has drawn entries from around the globe and is set in what has been called the Art
Park. Public art is popping up everywhere, including a fun project of
painted BEARS sponsored by the Coastal Womens Forum.
