Asa Ranson House is located 10 miles east of Buffalo and 28 miles southeast of Niagara Falls!

Clarence abounds with Antique shops many within walking distance. The Town Park, just a few steps away, offers tennis, swimming and twilight outdoor concerts.

In 1799, the Holland Land Company offered lots 10 miles apart in what is now Clarence to "any proper man who would build and operate a tavern upon it". A young silversmith named Asa Ransom, had been plying his trade in the little fur trading post on the shores of Lake Erie. He was among the first to accept this opportunity and in the hollow of the ledge, near a pine grove, built a log home & tavern. In 1803, he built a grist mill, the first in Erie County.

The original structure, which dates back to 1853, houses the library, gift shop, and snug. Our dining rooms were added in 1975 with careful concern to keep the charm of the 19th century. The South wing, completed in 1993, overlook the rear gardens and pond. The ruins of the grist mill are at the rear of the property.

Our charming giftshop offers selective items that are sure to spread sunshine. It is literally a "village of gifts" in a single room! Browse through flowers & herb teas, crafts & cards, puzzles & plush....& many other gifts to brighten anyone's day...maybe yours!

Our Library is your living room...a big jigsaw puzzle or checkers table awaits you!... We have chess and many fine periodicals and books. Old radio programs on cassettes are also available.

Our collection of over 70 herbs on the west side of the Inn is one of the highlights of the property.  Recognized locally on garden tours, the garden enlightens our guests about the wonderful world of herbs and confirms their ability to enhance the quality of life & bring delight to every kitchen and garden.

A diverse selection in a warm country setting, all of our guestrooms are furnished with antiques and period reproductions.

Each room has been created with its own distinctive character.

All have private bath, radio & hidden TV, telephone, and individual heat & air-conditioning.

Eight of our nine rooms have working fireplaces, and most have their own private porch or balcony.
