Thendara Inn, on Canandaigua Lake New York, is one of the most spectacular pieces of property in the entire Finger Lakes region

This site was first called "Thendara" by the Seneca Indians. Translated as "The Meeting Place," the name was kept by Senator John Raines when in 1900, he planned and built this lavish, fourteen-room Victorian home.  Thendara is a landmark of the Victorian period and great care has been taken to preserve the original interior. For almost 100 years, people have experienced the fabulous sunsets from our own backyard.

Our Inn is decorated with some of the original antiques owned by Senator Raines.

The Inn is extremely inviting; with three wood-burning fireplaces, you can enjoy them while reading, playing a game or dining. There are drinks and snacks available at any time. Our own little pub is a great place to catch the ball game, and allows for a little "sip" at the day's end.

Aside from the inviting interior of the Inn, our nine-acre property has a beauty all its own and is perfect for a leisurely walk. With the Inn facing west, you have a 180-degree panoramic view of the lake where you will experience some of the most beautiful sunsets ever.

In keeping with the historic nature of the Inn, guest rooms are furnished with turn-of-the-century antiques. Yet, modern guest conveniences have been thoughtfully provided. All rooms have private baths, telephones, televisions and air conditioning.

We provide a delightful homemade breakfast for you each morning, served to you in our dining room, sun porch or on the patio. Wherever you choose to dine, you will enjoy a gorgeous view of the lake.

When in the heart of the Finger Lakes, the wine tours are a "must do." We have a limousine service available by request to escort you. Subject to Availability, additional cost. For those who are looking for some real pampering, the upscale Park West Spa will fulfill all of your needs. Their expert staff will treat you like never before. Enjoy an encounter with paradise.

Policies
  • Two night minimum on the weekends from Memorial Day to Halloween.
  • Reservations must be made in advance. Summer nights and holidays quickly fill up, so book early to avoid disappointment.
  • Reservations are secured with a one-night deposit. Full payment will be charged to your credit card 14 days prior to your arrival. We will also accept your personal check. A full refund will be made (less a $25 processing fee) for cancellations made at least 14 days in advance of arrival date. After 14 days, we will refund you only if we are able to re-book your room.
  • Our check-in time is 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, unless special arrangements are made in advance.
  • Check-out time is 11:00 AM.
  • Breakfast is available from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Special arrangements may be made if you need an earlier time. If you have special dietary needs, please inform us before your arrival so that we may prepare something especially for you.
  • Although we love children, they would be hard to accommodate. Our guests are here to get away from their day-to-day routine. If you are looking to get away with your children, please check into our lakeside rental homes.
  • This is a non-smoking facility, however, smoking is permitted on the outside porch and the grounds.
  • Sorry, no pets permitted.
  • Guest room rates are subject to change without notice.
  • We accept American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Discover.

Gift Certificates Available

We also offer another type of B&B - Boats and the Boathouse. Taking advantage of the 600 feet of lakefront, we have boat slips available for your boat. The Boathouse - the original boathouse Senator Raines built for his boat - is "the spot" on the lake for casual dining. You will never need to (or want to) leave the lake!
