The Colonial Keeping Room was the original tavern room from 1800 to 1835. Jacob Matter and his wife were the first inn-keepers and were known throughout the area for their hospitality. Though the tavern name was The Sign of the Green Tree, the tract of land was known as Jacobs Resting Place. |
|
The tradition of hospitality is carried on today by Terry and Marie. The Keeping Room is a place for guests to gather, refresh themselves and share the company of others. The fireplace has warmed travelers for over 200 years.
The Keeping Room, in conjunction with other indoor and outdoor facilities, provides flexible support for catered banquets, receptions, meetings and other events.
