Pennsylvania
is a state in the eastern United States. It is known for its revolutionary war era
historical sites (mainly in Philadelphia) and its steel industry. The state's three
largest cities are Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Allentown. Pennsylvania's waterways
provide ample outlets for its commerce: eastern rivers link Philadelphia and other ports
with the Atlantic Ocean; western rivers link Pittsburgh to the Gulf of Mexico; and Lake
Erie provides access to the St. Lawrence Seaway. The state's mountains--the Poconos,
the Appalachians, the Alleghenies--attract many tourists and sportsmen.
Among the chief attractions are the Gettysburg National Military Park, Valley Forge
National Historical Park, Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, the
Pennsylvania Dutch region, the Eisenhower farm near Gettysburg, and the Delaware Water Gap
National Recreation Area. While you visit Pennsylvania you can stay at one of their
bed and breakfasts,an urban inn in one of Pennsylvania's cities, or a country inn
and manor of Bucks and Chester counties, or a homestay and farmhouse bed and breakfast of
Lancaster's Pennsylvania Dutch County, and the mountain lodges, historic hotels, and
country inn getaways of the Poconos and Endless Mountains. Pennsylvania's rich heritage
draws billions of tourist dollars annually. |
