The Architect's Inn-George Champlin Mason House was built in 1873 as the private residence of Mason, the famous Newport architect. Located off beautiful Bellevue Avenue, the 23-room Victorian residence offers five graciously appointed guest rooms.

The inn is decorated in period furnishings and all of the guest rooms are unique.

We offer complimentary on-site parking. Being just 3 Blocks away, the beach, waterfront, shopping, museums and fabulous restaurants are within easy walking distance.

Each of our guestrooms have well appointed Victorian period antiques from our personal collection that have been carefully selected to give our customers the elegance that is Victorian with the taste of a true Bed & Breakfast.

You can experience the opulence of Victorian times in this true architectural masterpiece.

All of the guest rooms feature: Private baths, a Fireplace, Cable TV either with VCR or DVD, Gilchrist & Soames bath products, Moisturizing Soap, at least 600 Thread Count linens, extra blanket, extra pillow, alarm clock, hairdryer, bathrobes, bottle water, air conditioning, selection of VHS & DVD movies, and WiFi, Iron & ironing board upon request.

Some rooms feature: Canopy beds, sleigh beds, Individually controlled heat, claw foot whirlpool tubs, soaking tub, two person shower, rain shower feature, body spray & mist shower with temperature control, CD player, assorted bath products, refrigerator, extra sitting room.
 
All room rates include full gourmet breakfast in the morning as well as afternoon refreshments and snacks. There is also a bicycle storage area, free local calling, double umbrellas for a couples walk, restaurants menus, free on-site parking, concierge service, beach chairs, beach towels and coolers as well as extra toiletries are available upon request.

  • Our cancellation policy requires 14 days notice for a refund, less a 15% cancellation fee per room. For a cancellation within 14 days of check-in, the deposit will be refunded, less the 15% per room cancellation fee, if the room can be rented. We cannot guarantee that the room can be rented. No refunds are given for early departure or “no shows”.
  • Check in is between 4- 6 pm. We might be able to accommodate you outside this time if you call the day of arrival and tell us what time you will be arriving.
  • We are unable to grant refunds due to cancellations regarding the weather. In order to assist you, if a snow storm occurs during your stay you can receive one of two options. You can receive a gift certificate for a future stay with us to be used within 30 days of your original stay OR guests will be allowed to come 1 night earlier free of charge (subject to room availability).
  • For the safety and preservation of our historic home, no smoking is allowed on the premises. It is now illegal by RI Gen. Law 23-20.10-7.
  • Rates are for double occupancy only. Apply $50 charge for each additional adult and $37 charge for each additional child over 14.
