The Palmer Home Bed and Breakfast, also known as "the Pink Palace," is one of the fifty most famous homes in the historic city of Charleston.

The home was built in 1848 by John Ravenel, whose son designed the "Little David," the first semi-submersible vessel and the forerunner to the submarine.

Thanks to its excellent construction and 36-inch walls, The Palmer Home has withstood hurricanes, tornadoes, and even the first major earthquake in the history of the United States in 1896. This private home is now operated by third generation owner, Francess Palmer. The house is furnished and decorated with antiques dating back two hundred years. The Palmer Home has been in operation since 1977.
