Granbury is located 45 miles southwest of Fort Worth, and only 1 1/2 hours southwest of Dallas, and The Captain's House is located on Lake Granbury, just a short stroll from the Historic Square. The property was purchased in 1876 by James Hogan Doyle, a founding father of Granbury, who was also a decorated Civil War Hero. The early settlers affectionately nicknamed him "Captain". The original lower floor was built in the early 1880's, and the upper additions were completed by 1900.

All guests are invited to enjoy both the upstairs and downstairs "Common Areas". In the upstairs "Common Room", guests may read from a selection of old books and magazines, enjoy their desserts, watch cable TV, or just visit. |
Everyone certainly looks forward to relaxing on the upstairs balcony, and some even enjoy their morning trays there. Guests may reserve a TV/VCR and old movies to watch in the privacy of their own room.
