Millbrook Inn
is a classic cape-style farmhouse built by Jack Dana in the 1850s
Waitsfield is located in central Vermont between Middlebury and Montpelier. Only five minutes from Millbrook Inn you will find some of the finest skiing in the east at Sugarbush Valley and at Mad River Glen. There are also many cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails close by. In summer and fall the Mad River Valley offers excellent hiking, road and mountain biking, canoeing, golfing, soaring, tennis, horseback riding, and swimming.
Millbrook Country Inn is a classic cape-style farm house built by Jack Dana in the 1850's. He located his farmhouse close to his lumber and brick mills on the nearby Mill Brook. Today the mills are long gone and Millbrook Inn's picturesque setting is midway between the ski slopes and the village of Waitsfield on scenic Mill Brook Road (Route 17). Henry & Ginny Perkins purchased Millbrook Country Inn in 1948 from Jack Dana's estate and turned it into a bed and breakfast inn the same year that skiers first schussed the slopes of Mad River Glen. From 1979 to 2010, innkeepers Joan & Thom Gorman maintained the renowned Vermont innkeeping tradition of personalized service in a friendly, unhurried atmosphere. Since Thom's passing in December, 2010, Joan has continued the tradition, running Millbrook as a bed and breakfast with guest-only dining.
You enter the inn through the Warming Room where the Jotl Stove blazes a warm winter welcome. The quiet living rooms, one with a fireplace, are places to curl up in a rocking chair with a good book or enjoy a parlor game. Although we were never the first kids on the block to embrace new technology, we boast high-speed wireless DSL internet access throughout the inn (and the backyard and Octagon House as well). Our guests can catch up on their email or surf the internet. Our seven guest rooms, all with private baths, are decorated with hand stenciling, antique bedsteads, and handmade quilts, ceiling fans, and have air conditioning available.

Through the years, our restaurant has earned a reputation with locals and visitors alike for fine country gourmet cuisine. When you stay with us you choose your dinner -- complete including dessert -- from our regular restaurant menu. Dining in the romantic, small restaurant features the finest Vermont ingredients used imaginatively to create individually prepared dishes. We prepare everything from pasta to bread to desserts from scratch. In addition, Thom, the chef, lived in India for two years, and incorporates four authentic Indian dishes into the eclectic menu. Our exquisitely decorated dining room (with fireplace) provides a relaxing, candle-lit atmosphere. To complement your dinner we offer a selection of wine and beer, and should you have special needs, our small size allows us to cater to dietary requirements and preferences.
