Located in the Shenandoah Valley in a small triangle defined by Lexington, Staunton, and Warm Springs, the Hummingbird Inn offers accommodations in an early Victorian setting. Comfortable rooms are furnished with antiques, combining an old-fashioned ambiance with modern conveniences.

- Architectural features include wraparound verandahs on the first and second floors, original pine floors of varying widths, a charming rustic den, and a solarium. Over the years Hummingbird Inn has been host to celebrities such as Eleanor Roosevelt, and Efraim Zimbalist, Sr.
- A wide trout stream defines one of the property lines, and our old barn was once the town livery. Common rooms for guest use include the den (with satellite TV, VCR, DVD player, and stereo), the spacious living room, solarium, and dining room. The verandahs and front porch afford comfortable seating upstairs and down, and the deck overlooking the stream is a popular place during the day or in the evening with a fire in the chiminea.
In the morning, we serve a full country breakfast at a single seating, so that guests can meet their fellow travelers and enjoy conversation as they dine.
Breakfast always includes fresh fruits of the season, an entrée such as raisin-cinnamon French toast, waffles, breakfast casseroles, and fresh baked cakes or pies. Our eggs are from local free-run chickens. We’ll happily accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and special diets, if informed at the time of reservation. Early-rising coffee drinkers will find plenty of freshly-brewed Costa Rican coffee, and there’s always a variety of teas from which to choose.
For lunch and evening meals, there are a variety of area restaurants. Dinner is served at the inn on Friday and Saturday evenings by advance reservation only.

Nearby recreational facilities offer golf, swimming, hiking, skiing, canoeing, tubing, fishing, and hunting. Goshen Pass, a spectacular rocky gorge favored by hikers, fishermen, and kayakers, is less than five minutes distant.
The baths at Warm Springs, the Homestead at Hot Springs, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, and Natural Bridge are minutes away.
Charlottesville and Monticello are an easy day-trip.
Visit historic Staunton and the Museum of American Frontier Culture, Lexington, home of the Virginia Military Institute and Washington and Lee University, and nearby Civil War battle sites.
Theater at Lime Kiln, the Stonewall Jackson house and museum, the General George C. Marshall Museum, and the Virginia Horse Center are located in Lexington. The Garth Newell Music Center in nearby Warm Springs presents classical chamber music concerts each summer.
Shenandoah Shakespeare in Staunton offers first class theater at their Blackfriars Playhouse.
