Killahevlin
Bed & Breakfast Inn

Front Royal, Virginia

William Edward Carson, an Irish immigrant and limestone baron, appreciated this site and built Killahevlin on one of the highest spots in Front Royal. Mr. Carson, who came to America in 1885 at the age of fifteen, chose the Gaelic name of Killahevlin because of his fond memories of "Killyhevlin" in Northern Ireland where he had spent many happy hours playing with a childhood friend.

During the Civil War this site's vantage point proved to be a strategic location for Union troop encampments. Killahevlin was placed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register in 1993.

Your hosts, Tom and Kathy Conkey, invite you visit Killahevlin B&B Inn to experience Irish-style warmth and charm in their historic Front Royal, Virginia hilltop Edwardian mansion.

Inn guests may help themselves to complimentary Irish draft beer on tap, wine, soft drinks and snacks.

All six of Killahevlin's guest rooms have been designed with luxury and guest comfort in mind and all have in-room telephone. All four Main House rooms have wonderful mountain views; two of them provide entry onto the large enclosed sun porch offering the perfect vantage point for spectacular sunsets. Both Tower House suites have two walk-out balconies with magnificent views.

The Tower House, circa 1905, is situated 50 feet from the main house and was originally a family guest house and water tower that collected water to supply the property's extensive grounds.

Inside the main entrance, a winding staircase decorated by a hand-painted mural beckons you to climb to the top where you can escape with a good book or daydream over the vistas below.
