Millbrook Inn is a classic cape-style farmhouse built by Jack Dana in the 1850s. He located the farmhouse close to his lumber and brick mills on the nearby Mill Brook. Today the mills are long gone and our inn's picturesque setting is midway between the ski slopes and the village of Waitsfield on scenic Route 17.

Waitsfield is located in central Vermont between Middlebury and Montpelier. Only five minutes from Millbrook Inn you will find some of the finest skiing in the east at Sugarbush Valley and at Mad River Glen. There are also many cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails close by. In summer and fall the Mad River Valley offers excellent hiking, road and mountain biking, canoeing, golfing, soaring, tennis, horseback riding, and swimming.

Since 1979, veteran innkeepers Joan and Thom Gorman have maintained the renowned Vermont innkeeping tradition of offering their guests personalized service in a friendly, unhurried atmosphere. You enter Millbrook Inn through the Warming Room where the antique Glenwood Parlor Stove blazes a warm winter welcome. The quiet living rooms, one with a fireplace, are places to curl up in a rocking chair with a good book or enjoy a parlor game. The seven guest rooms   are decorated with hand stenciling, antique bedsteads, handmade quilts, have private baths and queen-size beds, and enjoy views of the beautiful Green Mountains.

The Henry Perkins Room

Named for the founder of the inn, this spacious and luxurious room has two windows that provide sun and cross-ventilation, and an antique oak queen-size bed as comfortable as it is beautiful. There is a large closet and lovely private bath that contains a bathtub and shower. A rocking chair completes the comfort-a room in which to relax.

The Rose Room
Named for the cabbage roses on the room's exquisite hand-painted furniture, this cozy yet spacious room nestles under the eaves. It features a slanted ceiling stenciled with American folk art patterns, Dresden Plate quilts, wide pine board floors, and a beautiful view of the Green Mountains. The room has two twin beds and just across the hall, a private bath with shower.
The Jack Dana Room
A bright, sunny room with a queen-size brass bed, wide pine board floors, and a beautiful view of the Green Mountains, this room is named for the builder and original owner of the farmhouse that is now the Millbrook Inn. The private bath has a bathtub and shower.
The Waterfall Room
This room takes its name from the beautiful Waterfall queen-size bed and matching dresser. Another "under-the-eaves" room with a slanted ceiling and wide pine board floors, the ceiling features a flower basket stencil. The private bath has a bathtub and shower.
The Shell Room
This room offers views of the Green Mountains on one side and our gorgeous backyard maple trees on the other. Inside, the beautiful antique queen bed with its shell-shaped inlaid headboard and matching mirror are complemented by stenciling combining a vine and berry motif with a tulip border. The private bath contains a bathtub and shower.
The Willow Tree Room
Our only guest room on the first floor is large and airy, with an antique beech queen bed and dresser and a single sleigh bed. The willow tree stencil, for which this room is named, adorns the walls, along with a floor-to-ceiling built-in bookcase. The bookcase contains Henry Perkins' "hidey-hole" - find it if you can. The private bath contains a shower.

In the summer, Millbrook is tranquil with a large backyard and hammock perfect for relaxing. We serve a full choice of a hearty country breakfast to our guests outdoors on our lovely patio.

Through the years, our restaurant has earned a reputation with locals and visitors alike for fine country gourmet cuisine. When you stay with us you choose your dinner -- complete including dessert -- from our regular restaurant menu. Dining in the romantic, small restaurant features the finest Vermont ingredients used imaginatively to create individually prepared dishes. We prepare everything from pasta to bread to desserts from scratch. In addition, Thom, the chef, lived in India for two years, and incorporates four authentic Indian dishes into the eclectic menu. Our exquisitely decorated dining room (with fireplace) provides a relaxing, candle-lit atmosphere. To complement your dinner we offer a selection of wine and beer, and should you have special needs, our small size allows us to cater to dietary requirements and preferences.
