Wyoming State and Visitor Information |
The first area in the country to be set aside from commercial exploitation was Yellowstone National Park, most of which lies within the Wyoming rectangle. The park was created in 1872, when Wyoming was still a territory. The natural grandeur of the 44th state in the Union was further recognized in 1906 with the designation of the first national monument in the United States. Devils Tower is an immense lava outcropping near the Belle Fourche River in the northeastern corner of Wyoming. Another national monument, in the southwest, Fossil Butte preserves one of the world's largest fossil fish beds in rocks laid down some 60 million years ago. Plan your trip to Wyoming by choosing a friendly bed and breakfast, ranch or town homestay B&B, log cabin, historic hotel, country inn, mountain lodge, or urban inn and learn from the local innkeepers where the historic emigrant trails run. |
Exploring the old western towns, battlefields and former military forts can give you a sense of what life was like in Wyoming. The Western Spirit can be seen in their state license plate with the bucking bronco and in the daily western outfits favored by many of Wyoming's residents. Many a Wyoming bed breakfast also capture this Western style in their design and decor. Whether you head to Jackson Hole, Cheyenne or Cody, you are sure to find a bed and breakfast in Wyoming that will enhance your Wyoming vacation. A bed and breakfast in Wyoming could be a log cabin, a ranch b&b, homestay or a Victorian mansion! |
